developers
for new build homes in wales
In May of 2023, a petition was put before the Senedd to require all new Welsh homes to be fitted with solar panels as a condition of planning permission (P-06-1339). This petition was considered 'Complete' by the Petitions Committee in July of the same year.

The world is facing an urgent energy crisis and we are all facing a daunting climate and nature crisis. This is why it is so important that the Welsh Government should lead the way in securing future renewable energy sources.
This is why all new industrial, commercial and domestic builds (who are not shaded or north facing) should include solar energy as part of their planning consent.
The sun produces more than enough energy to meet the whole world's energy needs and it's not going to run out.

planning
with architects & contractors
The key to streamlining any new-build development is partnership.
Solŵr Wales engineers will work closely with developers, their architects and contractors, from the very outset of a project. Avoiding some of the most common, and often costly, mistakes will improve the bottom line of any development, particularly new build dwellings.
Perhaps most importantly, technical advice and input at this early stage will inform the approach necessary to meet the demands of local planning (see; Planning permission for solar panels)

installation
integrated solar solutions
Integrated or 'in-roof' solar panels are embedded into the fabric of your roof, rather than mounted on top of the existing tiles or slates.
This means that, whilst retro-fitting integrated solar panels can be a major, costly, undertaking that requires the removal of existing tiles or slates, and possible remedial work to the underlying structure, integrated solar is perfect for new builds.
Less obtrusive than surface mounted panels, flush fitting and 100% waterproof, the cost of such a system is largely offset by a significant saving in expensive natural slate. . . especially important here in Wales.
Integrated solar should also be the first choice option for roof replacement projects.
Solŵr Wales use GSE Integrated Roof Systems that allow for installation in any configuration, including those with a roof window. To this end, GSE systems are fully compatible with VELUX, FAKRO and ROTO.
